The speed and torque of the pedals are individually controlled by adjusting the preferred cadence and load. Cadence takes priority: if you pedal slower or faster than your ideal cadence, the system will automatically adjust the load to maintain your preferred cadence. This is achieved by simulating a traditional gear change, so you'll experience a noticeable shift in load.
The number of "gears" and the delay before shifting can be adjusted to suit your preference. Additionally, the pedal load is linked to the wheel load, making it easier to pedal when you crest a hill and begin going downhill.
